He was buying the same grey knit twice a year and never wearing either, because neither went with the trousers he actually owned. We fixed the trousers first.
The rule we ended on: one overcoat, four knits, two trousers, one pair of white sneakers replaced every twelve months. Nothing in the bag needs a hanger and nothing needs explaining at a border.
